Vocal Development & Health
Understand and apply basic vocal production techniques, including breath support, embouchure, vowel shape, placement, and intonation.
Utilize movement in their vocal technique, performance, and musical learning.
Grow in their musical expression through use of varied styles.
Music Literacy
Learn to read a vocal score/octavo, expressive markings, and symbols, in addition to understanding a broad range of music vocabulary.
Recognize and apply elements of basic music-reading through the use of unison, 2-part, and 3-part sight-reading and solfege exercises.
Music in History & Culture
Engage with music across cultures through performance, exploring stylistic elements and ideas.
Study musical periods, styles/genres, composers, instruments, and music’s relationship to culture and current events.
Music Theory & Analysis
Develop comprehension in basic music theory and identify fundamental concepts through score-reading, musical analysis, and composition.
Performance and Etiquette
Present oneself in formal and informal concert settings as a professional, as well as showing the kind of demeanor and courtesy one should have as an audience member.
